This location is perfect for showcasing Wisconsin’s natural beauty. My favorite months to shoot here are May and November!
2. Olbrich Botanical Gardens

3. Guilded Grey Events
Guilded Grey Events is my personal property located on 35 acres in Madison and is available exclusively to my Bobbi Petersen Photography clients. The land includes a stunning climate-controlled greenhouse, wildflower meadows, winding paths, antique window structures, and willow trees. It’s a private, peaceful oasis perfect for year-round sessions and magical golden hour portraits. A truly one-of-a-kind location that blends natural beauty with thoughtful design. Variety galore and all within walking distance!

This compact UW–Madison garden is packed with charm: koi ponds, diverse plantings, and architectural details ideal for more intimate family portraits. A photography fee applies, but the curated beauty is worth it.
5. Tenney Park
Stone bridges, a peaceful lagoon, and lake views make Tenney Park a versatile location for all seasons, especially during golden hour. Kids love the space to run while parents love the classic Madison views.
6. Pheasant Branch Conservancy
In nearby Middleton, this quiet oasis offers expansive trails, natural light, and a mix of prairie and wooded backdrops. Ideal for laid-back, nature-inspired sessions with room to roam.
7. McCarthy Youth & Conservation Park
Located just east of Madison, McCarthy Park features wooded trails, scenic overlooks, and beautiful open fields. It’s a quiet, peaceful park with plenty of space for kids to explore and a variety of natural textures perfect for family photos any time of year. No permit required and dog friendly!
