I’ve started and stopped writing this post so many times. The last year has been a whirlwind of every emotion—some more predominant than others—but if I can summarize it in one word, it’s growth (okay, and gratitude—so two words!). Last year, Josh gave me the opportunity to take over Abbots Lane as I transitioned into my next chapter, and I’m forever grateful for his trust in passing on something he built so personally. When you own a business, it truly is an extension of who you are—built from countless hours of hard work, sacrifice, and a passion for what you do. With no strings attached, I was able to seamlessly stay connected with my cherished vendor friends and loyal portrait clients, relationships I’ve built over the past decade. I was also fortunate to meet incredible past Abbots Lane clients who trusted me to capture their new memories.
I’m a big-picture person, and rebranding was always part of the plan—I just didn’t know when or how. This one-year mark feels like the perfect time to honor the past while embracing what’s ahead. Over the last 12 months, I’ve been refining my brand into one that blends warmth, authenticity, and timeless elegance that clients feel from the first inquiry until long after their gallery is delivered.
Above all, customer service has been and always will be the cornerstone of my business. My goal is for every client to feel valued and appreciated. Photography isn’t just about clicking a shutter; it’s about building relationships, not completing transactions. This is at the heart of my brand and will never be lost on me.
Physically, I want my brand to feel inviting and warm—like a cozy, sun-drenched afternoon or a long hug from an old friend. My goal is to create photos that are full of real moments, a touch of nostalgia, and a timeless quality that will still make you smile decades from now. From the way I communicate to the colors I use in my edits, everything should reflect warmth, intentionality, and a genuine love for what I do.
This past year has been incredibly meaningful—Jon and I have spent countless hours transforming our 35-acre property into a functional and beautiful space for my clients. With indoor and outdoor areas, a winding boardwalk, nature trails, and a she-shed made from antique windows, the property is ready for a variety of uses. The climate-controlled greenhouse is now complete, featuring Cream City brick and an antique chandelier. It’s an ideal setting for client meetings, winter portraits, small elopements, and vow renewals. We’re currently booking small events and shoots. More details can be found at Guilded Grey Events.
Another big change has been separating my corporate and portrait work. Attorneys and lawyers have always held a piece of my heart, and branching off to create Photography for Lawyers was one of the best decisions I’ve made.
So, I’m thrilled to officially introduce Bobbi Petersen Photography. It feels right. It feels like home—just the way I want my clients to feel.
Cheers to the next chapter!
